O, grace I try your word to spell,

I cannot as I should,

with you I wish to rest and dwell,

yet once I grace withstood!

You Shepherd of my poor soul chained,

in grace you took me in,

and mercy with its gladness reigned,

and made me shun the sin!

And as the days went on and on,

the grace of Christ, my Lord,

in darkest hour shone and shone,

God´s word is still my sword!

My trials are like disguised grace

that helps me to endure,

what I in Jesus can embrace

ev´n as a healthy cure!

It doesn´t matter I can´t spell

the mighty word of grace,

yet still it´s sweet and treats me well

and radiant makes my face!  (Ps. 34:5)
