One of my ”outside” contacts happens to be a sincere gentleman from  the “Jehovah´s witnesses” who has kindly shown interest in my writings.

He seems to be much more alert in the matter than many of my apathetic  friends, who are often strangely mute when I ask them, “What is on your heart these days?  What are you burning for?”  Now, that J.V. man is burning for something.  We disagree but I admire his zeal.

He is a little reproachful about the way I go about things.  “You put a ball on the field, but you don´t want the game” he said – in other words, I´m too evasive so to speak.  I hope he´s not right, but others have accused me for being too dominating.  That I must be humble enough to consider.

Having said that I honestly try to practice what Paul did when we read that “he reasoned”  in the synagogue and “in the market place” (Acts 17:17), which has over the years been to me an “Pauline” example to follow, ,e.g. on my many journeys, before the children in schools, among neighbors,  in the airplane, where by the way I always pray that the Holy Spirit will lead me to the right co-passengers with the aim of witnessing.

I don´t just give them a Bible or a New Testament and say, “Read this”, as I believe that I should as “a new creature” in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17) be a living Bible myself and an imperfect ambassador of the gospel, - or as a new young convert in Fresno, CA, smilingly said to me,  “You have been to me a pipeline for the Lord.”

With school children you can´t just do one-way communication, but you listen to their questions.  After a session in a class room a boy said to me during the recess, “Will you pray for me?”  -  “And for me!” a girl said.  That´s really the idea of a gospel dialogue.  The Greek word in Acts 17:17 is “dialegomai”, which really means “to have a dialogue”.  Let´s go for it!

The origin or author of communication is God, for it says in John 1:1:  “In the beginning was the word…”
