Time and again we get various photographs from our loved ones in WA, showing beautiful sceneries they share with one another on holidays, thus building fine memories for their three girls.  It´s really awesome that America is still more than just race riots and political mudslinging.

No matter where we live, we thank God for giving us places we can breathe freely, even in company with smiling flowers in our garden.  So my country too is more than political quarrels and corona anxieties.

I don´t think God´s people should be taken up with the vain personalities of our political leadership and their boosted “values”, but we should pray for all “in high positions” , which does a lot of good to our own quiet life “dignified in every way.”  (1 Tim. 2:2).

The fact that we as God´s people have our citizenship in heaven doesn´t mean that we shouldn´t be good citizens on this earth also.  On the contrary we should be diligent examples to our surroundings when it comes to our common duties and obedience to the laws of the country.

It´s a matter of keeping our spiritual balance pointing to Christ.  Our political leaders often talk about “values”, but to us it´s all summed up in the glorious gospel and its witnessing “program” till the return of Christ.

I´ve sometimes mentioned the elderly woman I met on a street in Yakema, WA.  She said these strange words to me, “You are supposed to be Jesus to your surroundings”.  I found her words meaningful.  This should be my “program” here at nightfall “in the last days” (2 Tim. 3:1).

People come along to you and me, don´t they?.  They may not believe, but want you to speak up.  And sometimes everything is forgotten about politics and a request is made about intercessory prayer for a sick child or a sick wife.  At such times you are called upon as a heavenly citizen living in presence of a merciful God. Indeed, you are “in the heavenlies”, but you still hear the clock ticking in your sitting room.
