Does that have to do with the church of Christ? No, and we should not prosecute against the state as some well meaning Christians think we should over here .  The state church is not the church, which Christ bought with His own blood.  (Acts 20:28).

The visible church does have its current ailments and flaws, but these have to be dealt with within the church (1 Cor. 5:12), not at some worldly court which will however never be relevant in America.

But the American legislation allows gay marriages as part of its concept of "human rights" (whether Trump can change that we don´t  know yet). .  It´s up to the individual churches in America if they would celebrate homosexual weddings or not.  Should that happen it is the responsibility of such a church to do away with that evil (1 Cor. 5:13), but if it doesn´t happen, the Bible true believers in such a church have no other choice but to leave it.  Such a church is no longer a New Testament church.

The Danish Evangelical Lutheran state church  (more than 70% of our population are formal members) also practices the old Lutheran and Catholic heresy that makes a baby is born again through the rite of infant baptism.  However, the state church is not the church and not known by the Lord as His blood-bought church.

When the Lord will soon be gathered with His true church in the air (see 1 Thess. 4:13-18), the church set-ups of this world that "lies in the power of the evil one"  (1 John 5:19) will not be there.

According to our constitution the state is bound to support our national church which it loyally does.  I know that there are true believers within that worldly frame work, but still that "frame work" is of this world, and as followers of Christ, we should heed the words, "Go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord."  (2 Cor. 6:17)

Our brothers and sisters in America face another challenge about their relationship to America itself.  The challenge is to be subject to its laws and pray for its rulers, - that´s about it.  "God´s own country" is a privileged nation, but it´s not  Christian nor is it part of anybody´s christianity.

The challenge on both sides of the pond is to stand up for Jesus Christ and His gospel and not be obsessed with anybody else.
