The U.S. is under pressure these days and will in an increasing measure call home her “corps diplomatique” from the Middle East. Our U.S. ambassadors are literally under fire.
So are also the ambassadors of Christ. In some parts of the world with bloodshed. We in the so called “free world” will not be exempted from the hatred of persecutors. It applies to “all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus”. 2 Ti. 3:12.
But not all professing Christians “desire to live godly in Christ Jesus”. They prefer to be good, respectable people, not followers of the Lamb. And yet it touches my heart to meet young people that bravely side with their Savior.
An immigrant showed me a challenging piece of homework. Her language school had told the students to write about an important event in their life. “I want to tell about my encounter with Jesus as a little girl”, she quietly told me.
My Danish nephew is a gifted writer in two languages which may tend to puff up his youthful pride. Yet he confided in me one day, that he has written a theme where he in his simple way wanted to give his testimony to his teachers.
Young people like that often move me to tears. They would differ from the “petit bourgeois” of “good” churchgoing Christians and set a different pace, paying the price. They will be the true and maybe obscure ambassadors of Christ.
His ambassadors will one day be called home. Not in defeat or under pressure, but in triumph as the culmination of spiritual warfare ending in “clouds” of many godly co-warriors “to meet the Lord in the air”. 1 Thess.4:17.
Hail young people! Hail senior people! Hail aging prayer warriors! The Middle East is in flames, but so are the disciples of Jesus Christ. Indeed, even at this juncture, “He makes His servants flames of fire!” (Hebr. 1:7)
